Who is Abdul Rahman, the Prince Among Slaves?

THE LIFE IN FUTA JALLON, AFRICA Futa Jallon is a a region in Africa that consist of mostly grassland, valleys and mountains. Abdul lived in Futa Jallon with his wife and son.Abdul Rahman's father was the king of Futa Jallon which mad him the prince. He was also a military leader and had control of 2,000 soldiers. THE START OF A NEW JOURNEY One day Abdul and his soldiers were ambushed by an enemy tribe and captured and striped of their clothes. They were forced to walk 100 miles to sea and sold to Europeans. The enemy tribe sold them for war supplies and food. The Europeans then chained them and put them on a ship. THE TRIP TO SLAVERY The Africans were treated poorly and closed into a small area in the ship. They were rarely fed food or water and had to sleep chained up next to where they would use the bathroom. Some of the Africans would become to sick to stay on the ship so the Europeans would throw them into the ocean. LIFE AS A SLAVE When they arrived to Nachez Abdul was sold to a white man named Thomas Foster. Thomas Foster was a business man and a slave owner that payed 930 pesos for Abdul and another slave. Abdul soon started to adapt to workin the plantations and married a women named Isabel and had 9 kids. Abdul becomes the leader of Thomas Fosters plantation because the work he did on the plantation started to make Thomas Foster richer. Because of this Thomas Foster refuses to sell him. Foster soon dies and his son becomes the owner of his slaves. Foster Jr. Then decides he wants to free Abdul but he has to return to his homeland. Abdul returns to Africa but dies before he arrives to Futa Jallon
